Little things can go a long way in making patients feel comfortable and cared for. Several times each week, SHC Comfort Carts, staffed by dedicated, regular volunteers, circulate through the Summit Health Cancer Centers chemotherapy infusion and radiation floors, providing complimentary comfort items such as ice pops, chips, assorted chocolates, granola bars, mixed nuts, hard candies, hand creams, lip balms, puzzle books, blankets, caps, socks and more. Patients and their caregivers are very appreciative, making it clear that these little things are making a big difference. “The snacks and kindness offered from the Comfort Cart that comes around really helped lift my spirits and cheer me up,” expressed a patient undergoing chemotherapy. With your support, we can continue to fill the Comfort Carts at both locations with snacks and other comfort items to brighten a patient’s day.
We are grateful to the many individuals, groups, schools and organizations who so graciously keep our Comfort Cart stocked with snacks, handmade caps, blankets, port pillows and so much more. If you or your group would like to learn how you can help, please email the SHC Resource Center at resourcecenter@smg-foundation.org.
