Summit Health Cares will present Broadway Rocks Cancer, a concert to raise funds to help provide comfort to patients and their families fighting cancer, December 15 at 7 PM at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon. “This is an incredibly important event for us,” stated Monica Cotton, director of SHC’s Cancer Resources and Navigation Programs in a statement. “We know from our patients the toll that cancer can take. While they’re fighting for their lives, we want to do everything in our power to support them.”

Get ready for the holidays among a sea of Broadway's hottest stars! Summit Health Cares is proud to present Broadway Rocks Cancer, a live benefit performance raising funds to help provide comfort to patients and their families fighting cancer. This year's event is on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 at 7 pm and will be hosted by Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cry-Baby, Rent). Hanke will be joined on stage by dozens of his Broadway colleagues to treat the audience to a rollicking evening of toe-tapping holiday show tunes.

A host of theatre actors will be part of Summit Health Cares' Broadway Rocks Cancer concert December 16 at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon. The 7 PM performance, which will raise funds to help provide comfort to patients and their families fighting cancer, will be hosted by Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cry-Baby). Hanke will be joined on stage by Alex Ellis (Catch Me if You Can, Titanique), Colin Hanlon (Falsettos, Rent), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Hair, On the Town), Natalie Joy Johnson (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), Tamika Lawrence (Caroline, or Change; Come from Away), Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party), Joe Aaron Reid (Catch Me if You Can, Chicago), Conrad Ricamora (The King and I, Little Shop of Horrors), Adam Roberts (Pippin, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), and Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill, On the Town).

Summit Health Cares is proud to present Broadway Rocks Cancer, a benefit performance raising funds to help provide comfort to patients and their families fighting cancer. This year's event is on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 7pm (PST) in Bend, OR, and will be hosted by the one and only, Christopher J. Hanke.

A team of 10 from Union High School raised over $1,500 last weekend participating in the Summit Challenge for Summit Health Cares an organization that offers multiple resources, providing comfort and easing stress and anxiety - all in an effort to increase quality of life and chances of survival. Union High School social studies teacher Nicholas Ferroni said the high school team raised more than $500 over this year’s goal of $1,000.

Summit Health Cares (SHC) and Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) have partnered to ensure people are educated about sun safety so they can safely spend time outdoors. The two organizations created a patch that Girl Scouts can earn by completing the Enright Sun Safety Certification™ - a program proudly run by SHC designed to help educate children about proper skin care and protection from the sun.

About a year removed from breast cancer, Michelle Perry will compete in the Summit Challenge on June 5th at The Park in Berkeley Heights. It's a 2½-mile run dotted with five obstacles. Summit Challenge is a fundraiser for Summit Health Cares' Cancer Comfort Project, which provides non-medical resources to patients and families undergoing cancer treatment.

Summit Health Cares is hosting its first annual Summit Challenge, June 5 at The Park in Berkeley Heights. This fun event will help raise funds for Summit Health Cares’ Cancer Comfort Project. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a beginner, all are invited to join in on the fun and help raise funds for Summit Health Cares’ Cancer Comfort Project.  The Comfort Project offers multiple resources, from one-on-one patient navigation services helping access community resources to movement and mindfulness classes, therapeutic music and more – everything is aimed at providing comfort and easing stress and anxiety for patients and their families fighting cancer.

SHC and the City of Plainfield have joined forces to host a free Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, April 23 at City Hall (515 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield) from 11 am to 3 pm. The free Health & Wellness Fair will offer COVID-19 vaccines, access to health screenings, diaper & menstrual hygiene products, colorectal cancer education and colorectal screenings, supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP), free sunscreen, and more!

Summit Health Cares (SHC) is excited to announce the availability of two scholarships for students who are passionate about helping others and are pursuing a career in health care. Applications are now available for the 2022 Next Generation Scholarship and the Dr. Marcia Sherman Scholarship - programs designed to ease the financial burden for tomorrow's health care leaders.  Applications are due June 30, 2022. To learn more, visit www.sh-cares.org/our-impact/give-back/scholarships/.

For the past five years, SHC has filled backpacks with donated supplies, distributing them to local children in need at the start of each school year. Working together with the Boys & Girls Clubs and local food banks, the backpacks include essential items like pens and pencils, notebooks, folders and glue sticks. But this year, more than 100 of those backpacks will include an exciting surprise – a laptop! The gently used laptops, donated by Summit Health, were collected and securely wiped by Liquid Technology.

Former Summit Medical Group Foundation unveils new name

Under its new name, Summit Health Cares, the former Summit Medical Group Foundation will expand its geographic reach to include the greater New York metropolitan area and Central Oregon, in the surrounding areas where it provides health care.

It's never too early—or too late—to learn about the potential damage that the sun can do, and what you can do to prevent it. That's the impetus behind the Enright Sun Safety Course™ introduced this week by Summit Medical Group Foundation (SMGF). This engaging, informative online program for ages five and over emphasizes that proper skin care and protection from the sun should start early, and that it should be top-of-mind for everyone, not only as a "summer thing," but every day, every season, all year long.

With the need for local evidence and the desire to truly understand and respond to community needs, SMGF funded a Vaccine Hesitancy Study to better understand COVID-19 vaccine attitudes among the Black and Latinx communities they serve that are experiencing poverty and are disproportionately impacted by the virus.

Vaccine rollout in the United States in January 2021 marked hope for relief to the impact of the COVID-19 virus on our well-being. Recovery hinges on vaccination uptake among all populations. However, initial data from six surveys conducted in summer 2020 seemed to indicate the potential for lower uptake among Black and Latinx communities across the United States.

Summit Medical Group Foundation announces Julienne Cherry as the new Executive Director to lead the organization. Cherry joins Summit Medical Group Foundation (SMGF) with more than 20 years of experience as a nonprofit director working within underserved communities. She officially began her new role on January 19, 2021.

Ever sing the ABC song while washing your hands to ensure you've sanitized for long enough? The original cast of Broadway's Legally Blonde - The Musical created a better ditty to sing in their PSA reminding people how to properly sanitize during COVID-19. This video helped raise funds for SMGF's COVID-19 Relief Fund. Bravo to our Broadway friends!

All proceeds from the event – featuring Broadway’s own – will go directly to Food, Health and Hope: An Answer to Diabetes, a joint initiative between Summit Medical Group Foundation and Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

The Provident Bank Foundation has announced the recipients of its Second Cycle 2018 Major Grants, and SMGF is proud to make the list!

The Summit Medical Group Foundation has received a $100,000 grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey to support Food, Health and Hope: An Answer to Diabetes (FHH Diabetes), a collaborative program with The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ). FHH Diabetes focuses on reducing the impact of diabetes in New Jersey urban municipalities in Essex, Passaic and Union counties, where adults with diabetes account for up to 10.6 percent of the population.

Summit Medical Group Foundation has received a $50,000 grant from the American Medical Association Foundation to fund its Food, Health and Hope: An Answer to Diabetes, or FHH Diabetes, initiative.
