Physical activity can play an important role in cancer care. The AKTIV Center, powered by Summit Health Cares, provides personalized, professionally guided exercise oncology programs for people undergoing cancer treatment and those in early survivorship.

Located in the Lawrence Pavilion at Summit Health in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, the Center offers a welcoming environment where patients can safely build strength, maintain mobility, and support their overall well-being.

All programs are offered at no cost to patients.

Research shows that appropriately prescribed exercise during and after cancer treatment can help patients:

In 2007, legendary marathon runner Grete Waitz and Helle Aanesen founded AKTIV Against Cancer with the belief that physical activity should be an integral part of cancer treatment.

As the first AKTIV Center in the United States, our Center carries their vision forward by making specialized exercise oncology programming accessible to patients in our community.
