On Monday the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn will host its second annual Broadway Beats Hunger event. All proceeds from the event – featuring Broadway’s own – will go directly to Food, Health and Hope: An Answer to Diabetes, a joint initiative between Summit Medical Group Foundation and Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

According to Paper Mill, Broadway Beats Hunger’s support will go toward providing free diabetes screenings, education on diabetes self-care, access to nutrition programs, and more.

“Diabetes is an epidemic among our neighbors in need,” Carlos Rodriguez, president and CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, said in a release. “Providing nutritious fruits and vegetables, along with health screenings, are important ways to help them maintain positive lifestyles, which is what makes our partnership with the Summit Medical Group Foundation so critical.”

The American Diabetes Association estimates that 39,000 people in New Jersey are diagnosed with diabetes each year.

The full list of performers scheduled to appear at Broadway Beats Hunger include: two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz, Kyle Dean Massey, Erika Henningsen, Sarah Walsh, Jennie Harney-Flemming, Alysha Umphress, Bradley Gibson, Ellyn Marie Marsh, Taylor Frey, Jacob Gutierrez, Joey Taranto, Wallace Smith, Andy Kelso, Sheila Coyle, Natalie Joy Johnson, Kyle Post, Jonathan Raviv, Rachel Prather, Catherine Brunell, Judy McClane and Haven Burton.
